Alan Grostephan was born and raised in Minnesota. He lived for a number of years in Bogotá, Colombia, where he taught writing and theater in a slum called Cazucá. He is the editor and translator of “Stories of Life and Death,” a collection of writing from emerging Colombian writers, and the author of “Bogotá,” a novel. A graduate of UC Irvine’s MFA program, he currently teaches creative writing and literature at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois.
