Spring is finally here, so it seemed right to celebrate and feature five writers this month rather than the usual four.
From the masterful short stories of Daniel Libman, Patricia Ann McNair and Molly McNett, to Samantha Hoffman’s bittersweet novel of middle-age love, to Croatian writer Robert Perisic’s powerful narrative about a Zagreb that is just on this side of anarchy, there will be something for everyone to discover, enjoy, be moved by. 7 p.m., Black Rock, 3614 N. Damen. We look forward to seeing you there!
Our March reading event features four of our favorite writers from StoryStudio Chicago; Rebecca Makkai, Steve Trumpeter, Shannon Heffernan, and Dana Norris. We’re extremely excited that they will be our March feature, presenting a new slate of their instructors and students. 7 p.m., Black Rock, 3614 N. Damen. See you there!
For our first salon of 2013, we’ll be celebrating locally based literary magazine Fifth Wednesday Journal. Readers on deck are John Kersey, James McManus, Cecilia Pinto and Suzanne Scanlon. Eileen Favorite, who guest-edited the current issue, will host. Also, please note that we’re starting earlier: 7 p.m. instead of 8. Still at Black Rock, 3614 N. Damen. See you there.
Get your holiday season off to a beautiful start with Sunday Salon Chicago, as we celebrate The Beautiful Anthology from OV Books. Contributors Gina Frangello, Catherine Tufariello and Zoe Zolbrod will read, along with Rachel DeWoskin (Big Girl Small, Foreign Babes in Beijing). 8 p.m., Black Rock, 3614 N. Damen. See you there.
Join us as we feature the small press ANTIBOOKCLUB, with writers Ramsin Canon, Thomas Mundt and Michael Zapata, and author Jobie Hughes (I Am Number Four), reading from his new literary novel, At Dawn. 8 p.m., Black Rock, 3614 N. Damen. See you there.
In addition to being our featured organization for this month, the nonprofit Rose Metal Press will also provide two of its authors: Kyle Minor and Aaron Teel. Paul Jones and Randy Richardson round out the night. Join us at 8 p.m. at Black Rock, 3614 N. Damen.
Sunday Salon Chicago is back! Join us at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 31 at Uncommon Ground on Devon. We’ll hear from Eileen Favorite, Jesus Angel Garcia, Alyson Lyon and Robert Rodi, and pass the hat for the Neighborhood Writing Alliance.
