Cynthia Blake Thompson

Cynthia Blake Thompson, a Pittsburgh native, has lived in Venice, Italy as well as in Rome, London, Itabuna, Brazil and Bolivia. She has an MFA from Columbia University and resides in Manhattan where she teaches at New York University and Baruch College, City University of New York. She spent two years in Bolivia as a Fulbright Scholar (Creative Writing), and as a David Boren Fellow (Quechua) to research a book set in Bolivia’s northern Amazon region. She is currently revising her novel set in Bolivia and working on a novella set in Venice. Her writing has appeared in publications such as The Bolivian Times, The Bradt Travel Guide to the Amazon, and An Insider’s Guide to Bolivia, among others. Cynthia is also an enthusiastic photographer, rarely without her camera, and often mistaken for a tourist even on home turf.
